2021 – 03/08 On March 6, the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan was passed by the U.S. Senate by a 50-49 party-line vote. The bill now heads back to the U.S. House of Representatives for a final vote and if it passes, it goes to President Biden to sign into law. Among the many provisions of the bill are: $1,400 direct COVID-19 aid payments to qualifying individuals; a $300 weekly boost to unemployment benefits through Sept. 6 and an increase of the child tax credit for one year to $3,000 per child (up from the current $2,000) for eligible taxpayers. We’ll keep you updated on the bill’s status.
